This year, the gluten-free trend is more popular than ever, with over 12 million Brits opting to go gluten-free when choosing food and drink products. Capitalizing on this growing trend, and with innovation being a huge part of their culture, Estrella Galicia, a Galician beer founded in 1906, has added a new gluten-free version of the popular 4.7 to their range, to cater to not only the those suffering from coeliac disease, but to the growing health-conscious population.
According to market research company Mintel, sales of gluten-free products are forecast to increase by 13% to reach £531 million by the end of 2016, and £673 million by 2020. In the past six months alone, 33% of Britons have purchased gluten-free products, and one in four have admitted to avoiding gluten in attempt to maintain a healthy lifestyle*. Estrella Galicia Gluten Free, a product that perfectly caters to this growing demand, is a result of intense work carried out by the brewery’s innovation department and master brewers, who have adapted the original recipe of their most symbolic beer, Estrella Galicia premium, in their objective to create a great tasting beer suitable for coeliacs.
The bottle has a distinctive stamp of the crossed grain symbol, which it means it has been approved by the Federation of Spanish Coeliacs Association, and has a significantly higher ABV than the premium 4.7, standing at 5.5% . The use of malt and barley (like a traditional beer) with an enzyme added to eliminate gluten, also sets Estrella Galicia’s gluten-free offering to apart from the rest, as most gluten-free beers typically avoid these ingredients.
Estrella Galicia is a 100% family-owned and independent, giving the brand a rich heritage- demonstrated in its distinct passion for brewing. Estrella Galicia was founded in 1906 by the Rivera family and first arrived in the UK at the end of 2012, focusing on its three key varieties: Estrella Galicia 4.7, Estrella Galicia 0.0% and 1906 Reserva Especial. Targeted at young professionals, Estrella Galicia lager offers consumers a unique, premium product that sets it apart from other mainstream offerings.
